Denis Kozhukhin, piano

The Great Music in Irish Houses regrets to announce that due to the unfortunate indisposition of pianist Richard Goode, he will be unable to perform at Killruddery House on June 11th.

The Festival is fortunate that the distinguished Russian pianist Denis Kozhukhin has agreed to step in at short notice.  In addition to his performance with the Pavel Haas Quartet on June 10th at the Royal College of Physicians, Mr Kozhukhin will perform the following programme at Killruddery House on June 11th

Haydn: Sonata in D major, Hob.XVI:24, L 39

Brahms: Theme and Variations in D minor, Op 18b

Brahms: 7 Fantasias, Op. 116

Haydn: Sonata in B minor, Hob XVI:32, L 47

Prokofiev: Piano Sonata No.8 in B-flat major, Op 84

Denis Kozhukhin was launched onto the international scene after winning First Prize in the 2010 Queen Elisabeth Competition in Brussels at the age of 23. His playing is characterised by an extraordinary technical mastery balanced by a sharp intelligence, calm maturity and wisdom. Mr Kozhukhin has a rare and special gift of creating an immediate and compelling emotional connection with his audience.

Recital highlights this season and beyond include returns to the Concertgebouw’s Master Pianists Series, Cologne Philharmonie, Wigmore Hall, Auditorium du Louvre in Paris and London’s International Piano Series, as well as débuts at the Lucerne Festival, Vienna Konzerthaus and the Boston Celebrity Series.
